Hello!

Happy long weekend!  I’ve been waiting for this since January.  I thought this weekend would never come.  Feels great to have an extra day to just do whatever.

So welcome to Clean House: Naomi Edition.  Naomi’s Space invades Sherri’s Space.  My good friend Sherri came to me with a problem.  Dilemma?   She needed major help organizing her craft space.  My specialty…. organizing and purging.  I love organizing.. alphabetically, by size, shape, date, color.  You name it, I’ll do it!  I’m sick like that!  Hahah!

Lets get the show started..shall we?

Here’s Sherri’s craft space!  Huge!  She turned her formal dining room into a craft room.  It’s awesome because she is by the family room with the TV.  A must!   Things just had to be put in it’s place and items needed to be purged.  90% of her extra stuff was placed in the garage sale pile… for the winter.  Cha-ching!!!  Love that sound!

Lets take a tour shall we?

Sherri 1

Gorgeous isn’t it??  So clean and everything where it is suppose to be!

Next, the boxes.  She had boxes of stamps, bags and bags (and bags) of Creative Memories organizers with cardstock and paper inside….etc, etc.

Sherri 2

Whoa she has a floor.   That floor came out of no where!

Ok so Sherri has not been crafting in her room for months.  And how could she…..

Sherri 3

Now she can!!!  look at all that space on her table.  Wow look at that 3 tiered foam distresser holder thingy!  Hard core!

The book case and her module organizer were my favorite.  BN (before naomi)  her drawers were full… no extra space.  That was a problem.  Lucky for her I like to purge!  So when we were done we have 2 med. size drawers empty, 3 small drawers empty (used to house SU stamps) & 1 large drawer empty.  Not bad huh?

Ahh the bookcase!  I’m so proud of this and so proud of Sherri for trusting me.  We got rid of 2 ribbon holders,  2 shelves worth of books/catalogs/magazines.  Because of this we were able to showcase her SU stamps on the left side of the book case.  Her stamps were hidden making it difficult for her to see what she had (ever heard of out of sight out of mind?) Also she previously kept magazines and books from YEEEEAAAARRRRRSSSS ago.  I told her that she could only keep  years worth of magazines and books.  She got to keep the latest ones and her favorites.

Way to go Sherri!!!

Literature organized by size first then by date :)

Stamps organized by size then alphabetically arranged :)

Am I freaking you out yet? (my husbands closet is arranged by the colors of the rainbow…ROYGBIV)  I swear I’m normal!

We also went through a boat load of paper…. but I don’t really have pics for that.

But check out her garage sale pile (except for the starwars stuff).  Not only did she organize her life (well craft life) but she’ll be able to make money out of it too!  I told her that if she misses anything then go ahead and grab it from this pile.  But i doubt she will.  We paper crafters are such collectors its crazy!!!

Sherri 7
All that?  Yup!  That’s all paper… see that box over there?  Full of tools, markets, pens, embellishments, etc.

5 helpful organization tips:

1.  Keep 2 years worth – of literature.  Especially magazines!  Recycle them..give them to friends or resell them.  You don’t need to keep all of them.  Hello internet?  You can find what you need online now.

2.  If you have to think about it – let it go.  If you really want to keep it you will decide within a milli second.  If you have to think about it… you don’t really want it.  You can also place it in a box and if you miss it after a day.  Go ahead and get it.

3.   Keep only one – If you own multiples (which we do) let it go.  We don’t need 3 types of markers, or cutting matts, rulers etc.  My goodness!! :)

4. Haven’t used it for more than a year – get rid of it!  The likelihood of you using it is pretty slim.  The craft industry keeps making new things all the time.  CHA 2x a year!!!  If you haven’t used it….toss it!!

5.  Quit living in the “what if” world! – What if i’ll need this sticker and that paper next time I create a scrapbook or make a card?  We are all guilty of this.  If you live in this world and not earth… see #4.

This is what I have always done.  Not with just my craft room but my entire house.  I hate junk!  I hate clutter and I hate keeping things I don’t use.   Our life is chaotic as it is why keep a chaotic craft space and home.

When you’re done… breathe (inhale then slowly exhale…  I love the smell of bleach but thats just me).  Then light a candle and enjoy your awesome space!

Sherri your space is so awesome!!!! When do we craft?

My New Life Week 3 Day 16:
today i burned 350 calories.  thought i did good.  until i saw my over achiever husband burn 600 calories on a machine i have no idea what it is called.  it looks like the tony little gazelle machine.  i hate that one because im to short and i feel like im going to fall off of it.  i will have to try it out tomorrow.  one more day and i get to move over to a a new weight training program.  never thought id get there.  the program was only 3 weeks long.  i cant believe i've been working out for 3 straight weeks!  it was so much easier when i was in college.
